Our little climber

Emery and her best friend Sofia went climbing today at Escalade in Kennesaw. These kids had such a blast. They claimed for 2 hours straight, never even a bit of rest or pause. When they did stop climbing they ran around and played on the slide.

Emery was quite tenacious with her climbs. She did all ones for the kids, doing each one multiple times. Where were two that was especially challenging and she kept at it a few times until she fell like it hurt her hands too much. She was quite strong and was able to pull herself up with her arms and seems so comfortable with with the height. In each climb , especially the more difficult ones, she had to use her mind and figure out where her options were and best way to go about it. Our friends the Ramirez family introduced this sport to us and it’s something we have never done or been exposed to before.

Although Ashley and I don’t do it, I was seriously tempted!

First Christmas At Our House

‘Twas the night before Christmas and Emery was asleep. The Hasbun’s came by earlier for a merry meal to eat.

All was quiet through the house, all calm and relaxing. Only soft jazz Christmas music and our fireplace crackling.

Ashley and I sat down to enjoy a nice candle lit evening waiting for Santa to appear. We laughed, chatted and were grateful for being there. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Ok… so that was probably the worst spoof of the Christmas poem ever…

We had a great Christmas Eve. Emery work is up around 8am and we all went out the tree to unwrap presents. Most were for Emery but that was expected. She got her yoga ball and fort Builder from Santa and a ton of gifts from Audrey. She also got gifts from our friends, Ye Ye, Nai Nai and Eugene. Emery definitely scored big time.

Crazy Besties

We met up with our friends Shoko and Wim and their daughter Amelia who is about a few days apart of Emery on age. The two are such great friends and they are just crazy and mischievous together. They are so cute we hope they will be life long friends. Here’s some pics of the “best friends” aka “besties” having fun on the belt line.

Apple Picking & Spooky Treats

This past friday we took Emery to halloween fest in Roswell and she hung out with Kate and Lucas.  This weekend and today we took Emery apple picking with the Lo’s.  Emery and Eva darted from tree to tree picking up apples and having a blast poking them with sticks.  Then today Ashley and Emery went to Marianela’s house and they made monster marshmellows and gingerbread houses!

Thanksgiving

Ashley and I love turkey.  Every year we look forward to getting a big one and having lots of good times and left overs.  This Thanksgiving, we had some friends Abee, Marianella, and Abbey over for a nice family style sit down meal.  It was nice to have everyone over again this year as we all were all far from our home and it was a good year to celebrate.  They had all finished school at Georgia Tech.  Yup, my huney is graduating and she got awesome grades to boot.  I’ll talk about that more in December when we have the graduation ceremony.

So, back to Thanksgiving… we got a 19 pound turkey, made stuffing following my Mom’s receipe, had mash potatoes, corn, green beans, candied yams, croissants and even a sweet potato pie.  Even Poke and Cappy had some turkey.  These dogs stuffed themselves silly and were uncharacteristically calm and sleepy after the meal.

Here’s some photos from that night and of course some photos of the food!

My share of the feast.

Stuffed turkey is the only way to go!

It’s all about forearm strength and winning smile…

Ash in her cute apron.  We got the Apron from Nawleans when we went down for the sugar bowl.  In the background is one of my favorite paintings that Ash made.  She’s so such an artists!

An now, the group shot.  We didn’t get one as a group last year but this year thanks for an auto-timer and a make shift tripod made from cans of Coke we got it in after a few tries.  The bloopers of me frantically running to join the group are rally funny.
