Boston Trip Day 1

Emery and I went to Boston to attend Eugene’s White Coat Ceremony. We arrived yesterday and had a full day today to sight see. We’ve never been to Plymouth Plantation before and this time we went. It was a great site. We spent almost 4 hours there.

We had a big breakfast before.

At Plymouth Plantation

This is what the same street in Plymouth looks like now:

Then we went to Plymouth Rock. Plymouth was founded in 1620 and was one of the earliest most well documented towns. Thanks the writings by William Bradford. We actually met the man acting as William Bradford at Plymouth Plantation. Coincidentally, when I was a kid I lived in a town called Bradford which was named after him.

Christmas 2015 in ATL

My parents and brother came down to ATL to spend Christmas with us. It’s great having them here and Emery is having so much fun with uncle, grandma and grandpa.

We did so many activities during  this trip it’s hard to list them all.

Mom and dad took Emery to Chattanooga. We ate about 15 different restaurants. We watched Star Wars , old and the new one that came out. We cooked lots of food, made bread using the bread machine. We open gifts, played lots of chess and saw a whole bunch of sites in Atlanta. Eugene even go Ashley and I to join in on two of his cross fit work outs. What a Christmas. I need a detox from all the holiday family craziness.

Best Mexican Around

We have become really big fans of a local Mexican place called Mr. Taco. The dishes are all really flavorful and fresh. Most entries are unde $7 and the sides of different types of sales and sauted onions and jalepeños are all free. Emery always gets her cheese quesadilla but Ashley and I have been having fun enjoying the menu!

Hearty Soup

For Valentine’s Day I cooked Ashley’s favorite, a tomato based seafood stew. The Italians call it Cioppino and there is a French version bouillabaisse.

I bought little neck clams, large shrimp, tilapia and bay scallops and cooked it in this stew. I found the recipe on Big Oven. She loved it. I made so much we have a few meals out of it. Emery liked it too. It was not oily or creamy and tasted really brothy and fresh.

Christmas Merriment

We had a great Christmas this past week. Emery received lots of wonderful gifts and we were able to take a short road trip to Nashville.

Here some pictures of the good times we had.

Nashville- We had some good ramen at a Japanese Pub in hip East Nashville. We took a wonderful tour of the Belle Meade Mansion, dated back to the 1800s who made their money from horse breeding. We saw a wonderful show “The Rockettes Christmas” at the Grand Old Opry Theatre. We also had some time to just relax at the hotel with the dogs. Emery loved jump and climbing on all the furniture and she only hurt herself once.
