Splash!

It was a hot day in ATL, so we took Emery to a nearby splash fountain park. Emery loved it. Even this time last year she was a bit afraid if touching the water with her face or going to far from us. Today she put her face into the streaming water, ran around screaming and smiling. We finished a nice afternoon with some ice cream.

First Day Of Pre K

This morning was Emery’s first day of pre-k. It’s a change for Emery and for us. She has new teachers and almost a complete new set if classmates. She is still going to Kids R Kids but we are taking advantages of Georgia’s lottery funded pre-k program.

So this morning we woke up at 6:45. Ashley bought Emery a hello kitty alarm clock. It promptly went off. Ashley has also been drilling into her the 4 things she needs to do on her own in the morning. 1. make her bed 2. Put on her cloths 3. Brush her teeth 4. Brush her hair.

I went to Emery’s room this morning and she woke up energized. She was about to say something like Daddy I need help but she caught herself and said to herself

mom said I need to do this by myself. So I need to put my cloths in first. It makes it easier daddy.

She got ready with minimal help and she was ready to go. Emery was overly excited, I think she was probably a bit nervous with all the hype we made over the last week.

After school Ashley picked her up but it looks like she might had not had a good time transitioning and she was pretty quite about her day at school. I am sure she will get adjusted soon. Our little Emery is growing up.

Our Beautiful Girl

I took this picture of Emery as we left for school this morning. She has her dr Seuss and beauty and the beast book in hand to share with her classmates.

She is wearing a dress given by our friend Marianela, which is a Honduran outfit. She picked out her own matching shoes and matched it with a bracelet that she and I share. She keeps saying to me

daddy this will remind me of you.

I have been traveling weekly to Texas and I only see her on Sat and Sundays. I miss her dearly. If only time froze and our beautiful and sweet little girl would never grow older.

I love you Emery.

Funny Things Emery Says

Emery is always saying things that are really funny and sometimes unknowingly profound or interesting:

My pee wants to give the toilet some water

Can I have this lollipop now and this other one not now?

We are talking about months and birthdays. Emery and Ashley are in the car driving to school in the morning

Emery: Mama, I have a question for you, whose birthday is in May and it starts with an E? Ashley (joking): elin (Emery’s classmate). Emery: No! Ashley: Ella? Emery: No! She is in her car seat in the same car as you. Ashley: hmmm. Emery: It’s Me!!! Then they both start laughing

We have trouble putting Emery to bed in her new bedroom and sleeping by herself. One night Ray puts her to bed but Emery doesn’t want to be left alone.

Emery: I don’t want to be alone. Ray: but you are not alone. You have all your friends. (Meaning the kitties and toys). Emery: no they are not real friends. They are not real. I don’t want to be alone by myself.

We were buckling in on the airplane when Emery pointed at the two lights for “fasten seatbelt” and “no smoking”. Emery said it meant:

Don’t take off your seat belt and you need your toothpaste.

Mommy did you know I love you to the moon and in the back…

I mid May 2014, Emery wakes up on morning and jumps into our bed and shouts:

mommy daddy, wake up, it’s spring!!!

Mother’s Day Art Project

Ok, it’s true that we are just finishing the Mother’s Day art project one day before Father’s Day. That is just how we roll.

I bought the supplies and frames from a local arts and craft store. Ashley chose the photos of her and Emery that she loves. I setup the project space and Ashley and Emery worked together to create this beautiful board. Here’s some pics of their work:
