Blog Construction Update – Gettin’ there!

It’s been awhile since I had the chance to update the blog and make some changes. Here’s what’s next on my to do’s. Gotta get these done before work gets even busier or I get shipped to india…

  • Setup YouTube Account and send a YouTube video to the Blog.
  • Find a good flash photo album to place in the Scrapbook section.
  • Create 4 Photos for Me, Ash, Pok’e, Cap and post on their pages.

And here’s a random pic for the hell of it! Pok’e aka “Pocket” eating her beef stick with stars in her eyes.

Blog Construction Update

It’s been 1 day since my last blog, finally did all the things I was hoping to finish over last weekend. Here’s what’s next. Oh and hopefully Ashley likes the new engagement design on the right. I place a small screenshot along with this blog.

Next Up…

  • Fix the top nav text colors, defaults to gray, should be white. – Done 12/4 – that was fast!
  • Put Categories under each post.
  • Add a few more design elements to each post template. Done 1/7 – man that took some time but there is more to do later, oh well maybe when I have more time…
  • Find out [more] feature is as part of each post. – Done – See the next blog post for more details!
  • Change up some list bullet icons – Done 1/7 – Changed the tools icons to look like a wand.
  • Get Ash to write up some content for “The Gang” – Done 1/7 – I tasked her today!!! 🙂 Thanks Huney!

Homepage Double Sidebar Added!

Finally figured out how to add another sidebar to the homepage! Turns out to be pretty easy, just had to create a new sidebar2.php file and call a php include on the home.php page. Learned some neat things about how the sidebar works as well as how to generate links. Also discovered how the page and page templates work.
Next up:

  • Fix the issue to page hierarchy – pages only show subpages and do not show nested pages properly. may need to write another function to do this or find a plugin. Other solution is just to create another page template… – Resolved – Will just keep rule that no pages shall have third level navs for now!
  • Place links into my new sidebar2 and figure out how to use digg.com to automatically post to my blog Done!
  • Customize the blog description on the homepage – Done – I hope ashley likes it!
  • Place a video plugin so that i can show videos on the blog – Done – test video works but my own video doesn’t…
  • Change the Glued Ideas Theme Descriptions to my own so that it doesn’t get mixed up amongst all the other themes, maybe even clean out some of the junk themes as well. Done!
  • Get a better WYSIWYG editor for WordPress- this editor sucks! – Done – But we’ll se if this is that much better…

Facelift Underway!

I have been surfing around the world of WordPress Themes and finally decided to stick with the Glued Ideas Subtle Theme.  Now it’s time to customize it!  Updates thus far:

  • Created my own header graphic and removed the default darkening gradient effect (pretty cool, would like to figure out how Glued Ideas did this.
  • Updated the font size and colors of the top menu
  • Updated the color of the blog title
  • Added content for the right side banner box
