Ashley’s Pregnant and It’s A Girl!

One day in early September, I came home and Ash mysteriously sat me down and told me she had some news.  I had a feeling what it was and when she told me my heart leapt!  That’s right, we were going to be parents!  Ashley is pregnant!  We were surprised but not THAT surprised as we have decided already that we wanted to have a child and that we were ready to start a family.  Ashley and I were overjoyed, we waited a few weeks until we told everybody our big news!  Our due date is June 2, 2010.

First Trimester

Ashley did not enjoy her first trimester very much.  Morning sickness did not do justice to what Ashley went through.  She was feeling sick day and night.  I think the prenatal vitamins made things worse, though it was good for the baby.  In one of our earlier doctors visits, we see the tiny little developing baby in the sonogram.

Our first Sonogram

Emery in November

Emery in December

Ashley was really starting to feel the hormone changes.  First trimester was a really tough time for Ash since it coincided with the beginning of her business venture. She is starting a healthy high-fiber muffin business and had to go to different stores to buy testing ingredients and research competitors.  I realize doing this while having her morning sickness wasn’t easy at all.

Second Trimester

Ashley’s tummy is getting bigger.  At our doctor’s visit we find out that it’s a girl later confirmed by a full sonogram.  During that sonogram we also get to see little Emery’s profile.

Third Trimester

Third Trimester like the doctor said was just like the first trimester.  More morning sickness! Fun, fun, fun!!!! NOTTT!!!! We tried to make the best of it, though.  We had a so-called ‘bucket list’ of things to do before little Emery arrived while we are here in NYC.  We spent some time venturing different neighborhoods, going to a Broadway show, “Wicked”, going to Central Park, Top of the Rock, visiting the NBC studio, and did a bunch of other things. One of things we did was go to a pottery-making store called “Make” on the Upper West Side to make Emery our first little gift to her… a little keepsake box.

See all the photos from the pottery making here.

The third trimester went by rather quickly and little Emery’s upcoming arrival soon dawned on us that she will no longer be in Ash’s tummy but that she will be a little human being we will be raising and cherish for the rest of our lives.  We talked about what we think or hoped Emery would look like, be like and act like.  We wonder about what things and hobbies she will like.  We wondered how our two little dogs, Pok’e and Cappy will respond to our little addition to the family. And we wondered what life will be like in general with our precious newborn.  We were getting more and more anxious and excited… this was really happening!!!! The past nine months suddenly felt like it passed with a snap of the finger (well, it did for me but maybe Ash may feel differently as she is the one who had to carry the baby in her tummy all these months).  We can’t wait ’til Emery arrives!!!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

After a long two weeks I got a long weekend to relax and enjoy New York with Ash. The weather is really nice and we are both sitting in front of the New York Public library on a sunny warm and breezey Monday afternoon.

Ash is talking to me about fashion and what she can wear to work. She just got an internship for the summer working for the US Green Building Council of NY. I am happy she found a place to learn and hopefully she enjoys the job there along with all the new wardrobe opportunities. 🙂 (or the lack of – as Ash always complains to me. Just kidding).

So this weekend we went to Coney Island Friday night but boy was that a trek. We had been hyped up for the last month due to all these posters. However after about a 45min to an hour train ride we found “the most drepessing carnival I have ever been to” according to Ash. We did have some great tacos there though!

This weeked they also closed Tomes Square or partially closed off to traffic. There lots of people as always and Ash and I turned into good ol’ tourists and began snapping pics left and right!

We also went to a street fair right downstairs from where we love and had some great street food. Is it wrong to love street food?

Ok, that’s it for now, we are starting to get bit by Mosquitos and it’s time to escape.

Blog Gone Mobile

It’s begun, now I can post to my Blog straight from the iPhone. No it’s not just the iPhone’s browser but actually using a wordpress iphone app. The features for copy editing aren’t great but the basic are there. Let me see if I can upload a photo of the UI.

Word Press Upgrade to 2.6.5

I made a pretty significant upgrade of my Word Press version from 2.2 to 2.6.5!  It was a bit nerve wracking, there is always the chance something could go wrong and I’d end up spending days/weeks to fix it but fortunately everything went pretty smooth.  I’ve tested most things out and am happy to report that everything is 95% ok.  The 5% that needs to be addressed is the problem with by right hand navigation on the interior pages like Foodography.  There is currently an error there that was not there before so I am not sure what happened.  I will have to fix that sometime.

WordPress 2.6.5 (admin view)

The good news is that 2.6.5 has some nice upgrads on the Admin side with a much improved and needed WYSIWYG editor.  Also now, I can even blog from my iPhone, ah more things to do with my favorite tech gadget of all time.  I will have to try that soon!

Here’s a few house cleaning tasks I have to do:

  • Fix the right hand nav – or – remove the error and change the page
  • For some reason the page design looks different in IE, Chrome vs. Firefox.  There is a small jagged offset in the top left and right corners under the top nav which needs some image modification I believe
  • The timezone seems off.  I think It is in central time
  • Need a little more jazziness on these posts, video maybe?
  • Figure out a better side bar presentation.  Right now the right side is not all that attractive.
  • Clean up the categories, I have some dupes
  • Learn how to blog from my iPhone!!
