Emery’s 5th Birthday Bash

The invite is out for Emery’s 5th Birthday party bash.  We are inviting all her Pre-School friends and other “long time” (relatively speaking) buddies.  There is much to do in preparation but it should be a great time.  We’ve also got a really great birthday gift for Emery to come.  (a new big girl bike with training wheels!)

Here’s the invite Ash made with cute-face herself making the banner complete. 🙂

Emery Party

The birthday party was a success. 22 of her closest friends from school, Amelia and Lucas all came. They made alien green pizzas and monster jello. We bought a rainbow cake complete with littlest pet shop figures ontop. We also catered food for the parents who attended. They kids all had a blast, here’s some pictures from the party.

Christmas Merriment

We had a great Christmas this past week. Emery received lots of wonderful gifts and we were able to take a short road trip to Nashville.

Here some pictures of the good times we had.

Nashville- We had some good ramen at a Japanese Pub in hip East Nashville. We took a wonderful tour of the Belle Meade Mansion, dated back to the 1800s who made their money from horse breeding. We saw a wonderful show “The Rockettes Christmas” at the Grand Old Opry Theatre. We also had some time to just relax at the hotel with the dogs. Emery loved jump and climbing on all the furniture and she only hurt herself once.

Emery Hikes A Mountain

Yesterday we took Emery to Stone Mountain Park, just south east of Atlanta. We’ve been there many times already but not with Emery. At the center of the park is a very very large rock. So big that it’s really a mountain that is hike-able. Surrounding the large mountain are parks, lakes and recreation buildings. It’s a great park and is a tourist spot in Atlanta.

We convinced Emery that she had to walk up all by herself. We told her how her friend Kate had done it all by herself. This seemed to have work because while she did complain a bit she seemed pretty game to walk up all by herself. Of course the minute we got on the trail Emery had to go “potty”. We managed to have her hold it for 30 minutes. However this didn’t stop her from declaring every minute outloud that she “really needed to go potty”. The mountain hike was quite crowded and lots of people chuckled as they embarrassingly heard her remarks.

The hike managed to become very steep in some places and we help Emery’s hand. Emery was very brave overall and was pretty determined to make the climb. In the end we got all the way to the top without holding her one bit.

Splash!

It was a hot day in ATL, so we took Emery to a nearby splash fountain park. Emery loved it. Even this time last year she was a bit afraid if touching the water with her face or going to far from us. Today she put her face into the streaming water, ran around screaming and smiling. We finished a nice afternoon with some ice cream.

Nashville Road Trip

This weekend we took a short trip back to Nashville. Last time we went during Christmas and the streets were pretty empty. In the middle summer Nashville was bustling with tourists and just party-goers and of course country music fans.

We drove there Saturday morning and walked around broadway which is Honky Tonk row. The weather was great and we took some free bus rides around the city and checked out a farmer’s market. To make up for last time we finally bought a pair of cowboy boots each one of us. Pink boots for Emery and serious cowboy boots for the adults.

The trip was also not complete without a trip to the country music hall of fame. We didn’t get to eat anything special this time, having run out of time but a trip back for better good would be great.

Emery didn’t like to walk to much and wanted a lot of holding. Good thing Ashley reminded me to bring the stroller. Of course once Emery was on the stroller the other demands started coming-most of which was around ice cream. She was still a great traveller though and brought us lots of laughs and affection at all times. It was a great trip!

We went to the country music hall of fame and learned all about the roots and culture of true country. It was a bit rushed and Emery wasn’t too interested but we still enjoyed the museum.
